No single motor covers every door in an industrial facility: industrial sectional, hangar, large-clearance and HPVC doors each have their own drive and control requirements. The r-tec industrial door portfolio answers this with 6 separate control units, each optimised for a specific facility mains, door type and application segment. In industrial door drives, the control unit, inverter and emergency chain must be selected compatibly in the same project. When assessing the project:
- Mains voltage + number of phases — 220 V single-phase, or 380 V three-phase?
- Door type + weight + size — Which r-tec motor compatibility?
- Operating frequency — Daily open-close cycle count.
- Soft start requirement — HPVC = mandatory; sectional = optional.
- Smart integration — KGS, OGS, induction loop, RS485 need.
- Premium aesthetics / function — Is Sommer partnership + LCD menu required?

Which control board works with which motor?
The pairing is set by supply type and how the motor is driven. Three-phase direct-drive motors use the I-380 board, which monitors phase sequence and phase loss. Where a three-phase motor is to be driven from a single-phase supply, the FU frequency converter is mandatory, and it is also the board needed for soft starting on HPVC doors. On large doors, GIGA Sedo is recommended because it holds fault messages and an event history on its display. GYK-92 SY, by contrast, denotes an integrated unit supplied as a package with its own motor (GYM100S-2). The range holds six control units, with output power varying between 0.75 and 2.2 kW depending on the board.

Is the control board selected after the motor?
They are decided together, because the board determines the motor's supply and drive arrangement. The order runs like this: leaf weight and door size give the torque class, the supply on site (220 V single phase or 380 V three phase) narrows the board family, and usage intensity plus monitoring needs decide whether you move to the premium board. Changing the board later means redoing the cabling and the learning procedure, so settling it at project stage is more economical.
