What is a sectional door and where is it used?
A sectional door consists of horizontal sections moving on hinges, rollers and tracks; its opening path depends on the selected track layout. The NORMTOR by Alkur family includes industrial, garage and Full Vision types. The industrial and garage specifications describe polyurethane-filled, steel-faced panels, while Full Vision uses aluminium frames and transparent sheets. Thermal, acoustic and operating performance is assessed for the proposed complete door assembly.
How to choose the right sectional door
The selection considers opening dimensions, operating conditions, insulation needs, visibility and available track space together. The NORMTOR sectional-door family has three types:
- NORMTOR Industrial — the door type described for factory and warehouse openings
- NORMTOR Garage — residential, housing-estate and car-park entrances
- NORMTOR Full Vision — aluminium profile + transparent panels for showrooms and display fronts
Doors can be specified for manual or motorised use. Motor and control-unit selection is checked for each door type, size and equipment package; you can share your opening dimensions for a project-specific quotation.

Total cost is calculated from the opening dimensions, selected door type and panel arrangement, finish, track layout, manual or motorised operation and safety equipment. A precise quotation needs the project dimensions and proposed door configuration.

What is the difference between industrial and garage sectional doors?
The NORMTOR Industrial specification covers factory and warehouse openings, while the Garage specification covers residential and car-park entrances. Panels, tracks and hardware are selected for the project. The local EN 13241-1 test report gives air and wind classes only for its tested door specimen; it does not establish a water class for every door in the series.

What opening sizes can a sectional door cover?
A wide range of width and height combinations can be produced, from residential garages to large industrial openings. The correct series and panel height are determined from the clear on-site measurement, which is why accurate pre-project measurements matter.

How much insulation does a sectional door provide?
In the reviewed industrial and garage specifications, 40 mm is the total panel thickness, not the thickness of the polyurethane filling; its density is listed as 40 kg/m³. NORMTOR Full Vision instead uses aluminium framing and transparent sheets. Door insulation is assessed with the panels, seals, opening and installation together.
