What is a sectional door and where is it used?

A sectional door is an industrial door system made of horizontal panels (sections) that fold up parallel to the ceiling as it opens. Because it takes no space to the sides or front, it preserves valuable floor area at factory, warehouse, logistics, car-park and garage entrances. NORMTOR by Alkur sectional doors use a 40 mm polyurethane-filled sandwich panel for thermal insulation, quiet operation and long service life.

How to choose the right sectional door

Four criteria stand out: opening dimensions (clear width × height), usage intensity (the daily cycle count affects spring and motor life), insulation needs (cold storage vs. standard warehouse) and visibility (glazed panels for showrooms, full panels for industrial sites). The NORMTOR sectional door family is offered in three types:

  • NORMTOR Industrial — factory and warehouse openings, EN 13241-1 wind and water classes
  • NORMTOR Garage — residential, housing-estate and car-park entrances
  • NORMTOR Full Vision — aluminium profile + transparent panels for showrooms and display fronts

All three series come ready for automation with r-tec industrial motors and control units. To choose the most suitable type and size for your project together, you can request a site survey and measurement.
