Overview

Hangar foldable doors, two-leaf sliding large-frame doors and wide-span industrial sectional doors are loads no light drive can handle — and the r-tec SIRIUS 14017 TCE was developed for exactly this class. It brings together a 140 Nm torque class motor, 380 V three-phase supply, 0.55 kW power and 17 cm/sec movement speed. Open/close limit positions are configured in software via the electronic limit switch, and the shaft-driven construction couples the motor directly to large doors. Manual operation through the chain mechanism comes as standard for power outages.

Control boardGIGA Sedo / I-380GIGA Sedo recommended

→ 10024 TCE is sufficient in standard industrial applications; 14017 TCE is mandatory for hangar + two-leaf sliding + wide-span sectional applications.

The recommended control board for the 14017 TCE motor is GIGA Sedo — premium board with Sommer Antriebs OEM partnership:

  • LCD menu — Parameter setting + error tracking
  • RS485 — Building automation system integration
  • Induction loop — Forklift vehicle detection, automatic opening
  • Service counter — Periodic maintenance warning

Also works with I-380; on large doors, GIGA Sedo’s advanced control functions use the full capacity of 14017 TCE.

Target projects

  • Hangar foldable door (aircraft/helicopter)
  • Two-leaf sliding large-frame (10+ metre span)
  • Wide-span industrial sectional (8-12 m)
  • Automotive factory main entrance + supply dock
  • Logistics terminal large vehicle dock door
  • Port + organised industrial zone entrance

Field discipline

  • Three-phase 380 V supply quality — Clean supply required for high torque; if voltage fluctuation > 10%, input regulator recommended
  • Limit switch calibration — Full open + full close limit positions programmed via control board
  • Manual mode test — Chain mechanism’s open/close action is periodically verified (critical in emergencies)
  • Periodic maintenance — Once every 3 months limit switch + chain mechanism + reducer oil check (tight maintenance for large motor)
  • Cooling — High torque motor generates heat; 15 cm clearance and ventilation around motor

Frequently Asked Questions

Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.

  • How do you choose between SIRIUS 10024 TCE and 14017 TCE?

The figures show a trade-off: where the 10024 gives 100 Nm at 24 cm/s, the 14017 rises to 140 Nm but drops to 17 cm/s, with power going from 0.37 kW to 0.55 kW. In other words, the torque gained on a large door comes at the cost of speed. On hangar and large industrial sectional doors, leaf weight governs and the 14017 is chosen; on standard industrial openings the 10024 is both sufficient and faster. The decision follows once leaf weight and door height have been calculated.

  • Why is the GIGA Sedo board recommended with this motor?

GIGA Sedo is the premium control unit in the range and brings two things to large doors: it holds a readable fault message and an event history on its LCD, and it allows remote reading over RS485. On hangar-type doors, where downtime is expensive, being able to read the code from the display rather than guess at it shortens commissioning and maintenance time. The I-380 board also works with this motor, offering direct three-phase control with phase sequence monitoring; the choice follows the facility's monitoring needs.
