Overview
r-tec Electromechanical Lock is an electromechanical accessory that provides automatic locking at the end of closing for automatic door, garden swing door and barrier leaf. Although standard motor braking stops the door, without mechanical locking the door can be opened by wind, vibration or light pushing; the electromechanical lock prevents this. It works together with the lock terminals of R2 (automatic door), G24 (garden motors) and GIGA Sedo (industrial) control boards.
How does it work?
- Motor completes door closing → control board sends 12/24 V to lock terminal
- Lock magnet/solenoid activates → locks leaf to frame metal
- Locked state LED red (status verification)
- Open command → control board cuts lock terminal → lock releases
- Motor opens door
- In emergency key manual opening — door opens from outside during power outage
Which sites require it?
| Door type | Lock requirement |
|---|---|
| External garden swing door | Mandatory — wind opens it |
| External automatic door (shop) | Recommended — night security |
| Internal automatic door (inside mall) | Optional |
| Barrier arm | Generally not (arm weight sufficient) |
| Industrial sectional | Optional — in premium projects |
| Garage sectional | Generally integrated (PULL series) |
→ External garden swing door = lock mandatory; in windy areas, door can open in 3-4 seconds.
Mechanical manual opening
In emergency (power outage + door locked, opening from outside required):
- Original key is inserted into the key hole on lock body
- Quarter turn rotation → mechanical latch releases
- Door can be manually opened → motor in free-movement mode (motor auto-release)
- When emergency passes key is turned back → lock returns to automatic mode
Key storage — With authorised personnel + backup at emergency call dealer.
Anti-vibration mechanism
Traditional electromagnetic locks make a “clack” sound at the moment of locking — annoying in night/silent environments. The r-tec electromechanical lock locks silently with a spring soft-close mechanism:
- Classic electromagnetic: ~60-70 dB clack sound
- r-tec electromechanical: ~40-45 dB soft click
Silence is critical in hospital, hotel, premium residence applications.
Target projects
- Villa and estate garden swing door (wind + security)
- Mall, shop external automatic door (night security)
- Hospital + hotel door (silent operation)
- Bank + jewellery store entrance (security)
- Industrial premium door (lock after multi-position)
- Residence single-leaf manual entrance (automatic locking)
Field discipline
- Position precision — 2-3 mm clearance between lock body and metal plate on leaf; more clearance reduces lock force
- Lock terminal voltage — Lock output 12 V or 24 V on control board; must match lock voltage
- Rain tightness — Lock body protected from rain in outdoor installation (top cover or overhang)
- Key maintenance — Lubricate emergency open key every 6 months; rust makes opening difficult
- Periodic test — Monthly lock + open test cycle performed
- Emergency procedure training — Our dealers provide emergency key use training on delivery
Frequently Asked Questions
Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.
-
When is an electromechanical lock needed?
It is needed where the leaf must be mechanically locked in the closed position: on long, light garden leaves the wind can push the leaf out of position, while on automatic doors there may be no holding force beyond motor braking. The lock engages automatically at the end of closing, runs on 12 or 24 V DC and draws 0.5 to 1 A briefly at the moment of locking or releasing. The body is stainless steel for outdoor use with an IP44 rating. In an emergency it can be released by key, which matters for evacuation, and the key must be kept somewhere reachable.
-
What is the lock's mechanical life and board compatibility?
Mechanical endurance is given as over 100 000 cycles, which on a gate doing 50 cycles a day corresponds to more than five years of use. It is suited to continuous operation in lock mode and is compatible with the G24, R2 and GIGA Sedo control boards, though the presence of a lock output on the board should be confirmed. Two points are checked at commissioning: that the lock is not triggered before the leaf is fully closed, and that the release pulse is given immediately before the motor moves. Wrong timing strains the bolt and wears the mechanism over time.
