Overview

r-tec Function Selector Remote is a wall-mounted multi-mode selector panel for automatic doors, barriers and premium industrial doors. It enables operators to adjust door behaviour in different scenarios such as mall business hours, night security, emergency with the standard 5-modes (open standby / partial opening / one-way exit / automatic run / closed standby). It plugs into the control unit via connector and requires no separate wiring. Standard accessory of the R2 control board.

5 standard modes

ModeBehaviourTypical use
Open standbyDoor stays continuously in the open positionBusy hours, moving
Partial openingDoor opens only to a partial (narrow) gapPedestrian passage, energy saving
One-way exitOpens for exit direction only, blocks entryEmployee exit only
Automatic runOpens automatically on approach, closes after timeStandard business hours
Closed standbyDoor stays locked in the closed positionNight, holiday, maintenance

Shop hour scenario

Typical shop daily routine:

HourModeDescription
08:00Automatic runShop opening, customer entry
12:00-13:00Open standbyLunch rush — continuous flow
17:00Automatic runNormal flow
21:00One-way exitExit only (no new customer entry)
22:00Closed standbyShop closing

→ Thanks to the Function Selector, an interface managing the daily routine with a single selector instead of manual key/button combination.

Key locking

The panel is locked with a key — unauthorised personnel cannot change mode:

  • Shop staff can only see, cannot change without key
  • Manager/owner changes mode with key
  • Multiple key copies if needed our dealers supply

Multi-door management (premium variant)

The premium variant can control 4 doors via a single selector:

  • Shop in mall — Front door + back service + warehouse door + emergency exit (single panel)
  • Hospital — Main entrance + operating theatre + ICU + emergency entrance
  • Hotel — Lobby + restaurant + spa + pool area

The LCD screen displays each door’s current mode in a separate line; door is selected with a single button, mode changed with buttons.

Target projects

  • Shopping mall and chain stores (business hours management)
  • Hospital + health facility (shift + emergency modes)
  • Hotel + restaurant (operation hours)
  • Showroom + gallery (opening/closing routine)
  • Office complex (day/night + holiday mode)
  • Sports facility (different modes for class hours)

Field discipline

  • Mode change speed — Door behaviour changes within max 5 sec after new mode selected
  • Key storage — With authorised personnel + backup at dealer; lost key = panel removal + new key
  • LED visibility — Active mode LED visible in dark environment; critical for night use
  • Connection cable length — Max 30 m distance to control board (24 V DC voltage loss)
  • Periodic test — Each mode manually tested monthly (by operator)
  • Premium LCD maintenance — LCD screen wiped once every 12 months; replacement item in case of screen failure

Frequently Asked Questions

Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.

  • What are the function selector's five modes for?

The selector lets an authorised person change the door's operating scenario from the wall. The five standard modes are: hold open (the door stays open), partial opening (a narrow passage, reducing heat loss), one-way exit (allowing egress only from inside), automatic (normal two-way operation) and hold closed (the door stays locked). Shop opening and closing hours, delivery windows and partial opening through winter are the typical reasons for use. Key locking is standard, so mode changes are not open to unauthorised people.

  • How does the premium variant differ from the standard?

The standard variant works with five modes and an LED indicator; the premium rises to eight modes, carries an LCD display and can manage up to four doors from one selector. In buildings with several entrances that means no separate panel is needed per door. Both run on 24 V DC, plug into the control unit by connector and carry an IP44 rating, with R2 and GIGA Sedo as compatible boards. The choice follows the number of doors and the range of modes needed. On a standard single-door entrance, the premium variant's extra modes mostly go unused.
