Overview
r-tec Battery Kit is the backup power module ensuring operation continuity of automation products during power outages. Comes as a 24 V lead-acid battery + charger board combination; works integrated with the standard battery terminals of G24, R2, GIGA Sedo control boards. Standard accessory for sites where uninterrupted operation is critical such as hospital, mall, airport, secured estate.

In which scenarios is it mandatory?
| Site type | Battery requirement |
|---|---|
| Hospital automatic door | Mandatory — uninterrupted patient entry |
| Airport transit | Mandatory — passenger safety |
| Barrier (logistics 7/24) | Mandatory — terminal flow |
| Villa garden (remote) | Recommended — night outage entry |
| Mall shop door | Recommended — backup during business hours |
| Industrial sectional | Optional |
| Office internal door | Optional |
7 Ah vs 12 Ah — capacity selection
Battery capacity is proportional to the connected motor + cycle count:
| Motor | 7 Ah battery cycle | 12 Ah battery cycle |
|---|---|---|
| COUPER 24 / 85 W | 50-80 | 100-150 |
| PRINCE 24 / 150 W | 30-50 | 60-90 |
| KING 524F sliding | 30-50 | 60-80 |
| Barrier (190 W) | 20-30 | 40-50 |
| Automatic door (100 W) | 80-120 | 150-200 |
→ 7 Ah sufficient for standard residence; 12 Ah mandatory for industrial / 7-24 operation.
Automatic switchover — uninterrupted
The battery kit works in the logic of uninterruptible power supply (UPS):
- Mains normal → board continuously trickle-charges the battery
- At moment of mains outage → board automatically switches to battery supply (< 50 ms delay)
- Door operates uninterrupted → user does not notice outage
- Mains restored → board returns to charging mode
→ Door owner/operator does not even notice the outage — critical operation continues.
Battery life and replacement
Standard lead-acid battery (VRLA AGM) life is 3-5 years (200-300 cycles annual average). End-of-life indicators:
- Battery voltage drops — 22-23 V instead of 24 V when full
- Cycle count decreases — 10-15 cycles instead of 30-50 during outage
- Charge time extends — 16 hours instead of 8 hours
- LED persistent charging — “Weak battery” warning
→ When indicators are seen, time for renewal; aging battery also strains board charge circuit.
Field discipline
- Battery location — Next to control board, in a place with air circulation; hot environment shortens battery life
- Voltage test — Battery voltage measurement with multimeter once every 6 months; renew if below 22 V
- Charge circuit check — Is “charging” LED status continuously on? Continuous charging = board malfunction
- Emergency discharge test — Once a year mains turned off and battery cycle count measured (test cycle)
- Storage temperature — Backup battery stock kept in 0 – +25 °C environment
- Environmental waste — Old battery is not standard disposal, delivered to lead-acid waste centre (legally mandatory)
- Periodic maintenance — Annual general battery + charge board + connection check
