On the 380 V three-phase sliding line, KING 2500 represents the medium-upper capacity. At a 2,500 kg class door weight it serves factory main entrances, organised industrial zone (OSB) facilities, logistics terminals and warehouse complexes. Its three-phase direct-drive structure (NO inverter drive) keeps it simple and robust — instead of relying on an FU inverter on a 220 V single-phase installation, it drives heavy doors straight from the 380 V mains.

→ If 380 V three-phase is available at the facility, KING 2500/4000 direct-drive is always preferred. If on a 220 V single-phase installation, KING 3000 FU + FU inverter is mandatory.

KING 2500 is optimised to operate with r-tec’s I-380 industrial control unit (see r-tec I-380 Three-Phase Control Unit). Important features:
- Phase sequence control — On wrong R-S-T sequence the motor does not reverse, the board stops and gives a LED warning.
- Low-voltage protection — In < 310 V conditions the board stops (motor winding protection).
- Current protection trimpot — 0-100% adjustment according to site; the system cuts off on overload.
- Separate internal fuse for each phase — Protection against mains-sourced overcurrent.

Field discipline
- Three-phase mains check — Before installation, the 3 × R-S-T + N + PE connection in the facility’s fuse panel must be checked. On wrong phase sequence the I-380 board stops; swapping two phases in the field is sufficient.
- Current protection calibration — The I-380 trimpot must be calibrated under load; in site trial it is reduced until the motor stops, then slightly increased.
- Rail and wheel quality — A 2,500 kg door creates heavy momentum; a steel rail 6 mm+ thick + solid ground connection are mandatory.
- Limit switch buffer — 15-20 cm is recommended (the braking distance grows on a heavy door).

Why 380 V three phase, and where is the limit against a 220 V model?
In the 220 V single-phase range the ceiling is the 2 000 kg class (KING 2000); with the inverter-driven KING 3000 FU, the 3 000 kg class can be reached from a single-phase supply. KING 2500 is the direct-drive solution for sites that have a three-phase supply: a three-phase motor produces smoother torque at the same load and its inrush current on starting is better balanced than single phase. Where a three-phase connection exists, this is the route to prefer on a heavy leaf; where it does not, the inverter model approaches the same class without changing the supply.

What does phase sequence monitoring do?
On a three-phase motor the order in which the phases are connected sets the direction of rotation; connected in reverse, the gate travels towards closing on an open command. The I-380 control board checks phase sequence automatically and prevents operation in the wrong order, which removes the job of swapping cables to hunt for the direction during installation. It also cuts the circuit on a lost phase; a three-phase motor running on two phases suffers winding damage before long. The board's phase warning should not be passed over during commissioning.
