Overview
KING 524F is the go-to standard model in r-tec’s 24 V DC sliding family. With its 500 kg door-weight class, it fits residential, villa and secured-estate entrances — especially the scenarios where operation has to continue through a power outage. It shares the same door-weight class as the 220 V AC version, SL 500; the only thing that decides between the two is whether you need battery operation.
Why 24 V DC?
3 advantages of 24 V DC sliding motors over their 220 V AC alternatives:
- Battery backup compatibility — The G24 control board + battery charger board + 24 V 7 Ah battery combination continues operation during power outages. 30 – 50 open-close cycles with the battery at a typical site.
- Site safety — 24 V DC is safer in the field on contact compared to 230 V AC (especially in humidity + earthing).
- Silent operation — DC motor is quieter than the splash sound of an AC motor; suits neighbour noise standards in residential gardens.
KING 524F vs SL 600F
| KING 524F | SL 600F | |
|---|---|---|
| Max. door weight | 500 kg | 600 kg |
| Body | Standard KING | Compact SL |
| Market | Residential / villa | Residential + narrow area |
| Battery compatibility | Available | Available |
→ KING 524F for doors of 500 kg and below; if there is a narrow installation area, SL 600F (600 kg class compact).
Target projects
- Secured residential estate entrance gate (power outage critical)
- Premium villa main entrance (battery-backed silent operation)
- Eco-houses and solar-powered systems (24 V natural compatibility)
- 7/24 operational closed estate (backup power integrated)
Field discipline
- Battery charger board — The battery connects to terminals 62-63 on the G24 board. 24 V 7 Ah battery is the typical preference; a larger 12 Ah battery means a longer backup duration.
- Battery life — Typical use life is 3-5 years; battery voltage test is performed during periodic maintenance.
- Control board charging current — The board’s battery charging circuit drives a light charging current with the battery connected continuously; overcharge protection is included.
- Thermal protection — The 24 V DC motor also contains thermal protection like AC; in case of overload the board shuts itself down.
- The installation and adjustment steps must follow the order in the PDF.
Model notes
The G24 control board is mandatory on 24 V DC models; an AC control board (220 V single-phase) is incompatible. If battery backup is not desired, SL 500 (220 V AC) can be preferred as a compact alternative; but if the site has already been set up for 24 V, KING 524F is continued.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.
-
What do the two speeds given as 15 and 50 cm/s mean?
The 24 V DC motor runs at 15 cm/s at the start and end of the cycle and at 50 cm/s through the middle. The fast section shortens passage time while the slow section lets the leaf approach the open and closed ends gently, reducing the stopping impact and mechanical fatigue. The deceleration points are set during the learning procedure on the G24 control unit. The behaviour also matters for safety, since the leaf's speed drops at the closing edge.
-
Does the gate keep working during a power cut?
Battery backup is optional across the 24 V DC range: adding a 24 V battery charger board and a 7 Ah battery to the G24 control unit lets the gate keep running when mains power fails. How many cycles the battery carries depends on leaf weight, temperature and the age of the battery, so on entrances that must not stop, the battery should not be the only plan and a manual release route should remain. The mains supply is 230 V single phase; the battery feeds the motor side only.
