Overview
KING 3000 FU is the special case in the family — built to drive industrial heavy doors where the site has only a 220 V single-phase supply. Rather than the direct AC motor construction of the standard KING 1000 / 2000 models, it runs through the FU frequency inverter, which converts single-phase 220 V input into 3-phase 220 V motor output. That makes it a key solution at sites that need a heavy industrial door but have no 380 V three-phase installation.
Why KING 3000 FU?
Industrial site scenario:
- The facility is installed with a 220 V single-phase mains (new construction or interior region facility).
- The cost of bringing in a three-phase mains is high (new transformer + distribution board + utility application).
- The door is in the 2,000 kg+ weight class — the standard KING 2000 direct AC is marginal.
- Soft start requirement exists — hard starting fatigues the door or rail.
KING 3000 FU solves 3 problems at once in this scenario:
- No mains investment is required — the existing 220 V single-phase is used.
- Thanks to the inverter, 3-phase motor performance (quieter, less vibration).
- Mechanical protection + long life with soft start/stop.
FU inverter control unit
KING 3000 FU is delivered together with r-tec’s FU control unit (see r-tec FU Control Unit). Highlight features:
- 220 V AC input → 3 × 220 V AC inverter output (2,200 VA, 15 A max).
- Soft start / soft stop with trimpot adjustment (T3 start frequency + T4 slow speed).
- Automatic closing time (T5 trimpot).
- 5 DIP switch control — automatic closing, deadman, optical sensor, motor direction, product type.
- 2 DIP switch motor power — choice among 0.75 / 1.1 / 1.5 / 2.2 kW.
- The same board operates in both the sliding garden and HPVC mode (DIP 5).
Target projects
- Industrial sites with 220 V single-phase installations (old industrial estates, small production facilities)
- Inland region factory / workshop entrance (region where 380 V three-phase installation cost is high)
- 2,000 kg+ heavy-profile garden gate — mid-segment estate (premium villa complex)
- Applications requiring soft start (rail systems with low fatigue margin)
Field discipline
- 220 V mains capacity check — The inverter requires 2,200 VA draw capacity; the existing single-phase installation fuse must be 15 A and above.
- Cable cross-section — Inverter input cable min. 2.5 mm² Cu; output (to motor) 1.5 mm² is sufficient.
- Soft start adjustment — Increase/decrease the T3 trimpot according to the site; 3-5 seconds for heavy doors, 1-2 seconds start frequency for medium doors is typical.
- DIP switch motor power — The DIP 1+2 position matching with the power on the KING 3000 FU motor label must be done.
Model notes
When the updated standalone document for this model is released, the same page will be updated. Inverter parameters must not be separated from the factory default according to the motor label current. Verification with sales engineering before installation is recommended — especially for the DIP selection of the FU module’s motor power.
In which sectors is it used?

Frequently Asked Questions
Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.

What does driving a three-phase motor from a single-phase supply through an inverter achieve?
KING 3000 FU is fed from a 220 V single-phase supply and delivers 3 × 220 VAC to the motor through the FU frequency converter. The gain is twofold: the smooth torque of a three-phase motor makes carrying up to the 3 000 kg class possible, while the inverter controls speed by frequency and so gives a soft start and soft stop. On heavy gates at sites with no three-phase connection, this solves the problem without changing the supply. In return, commissioning requires the FU parameters to be set correctly.
-
How are soft start and soft stop adjusted?
Adjustment is made on the trimpots of the FU control unit: T3 sets the start ramp and T4 the stop ramp. Lengthening the ramp makes the leaf accelerate and decelerate gently, which reduces shock loading on the track and gearing and removes the jolt on a heavy leaf. Too long a ramp, on the other hand, extends the total passage time. Change the setting in small steps and watch a full open-close cycle after each one. Parameter changes should be made by a trained team, following the order in the relevant manual.
