Overview
In the r-tec swing-gate range, COUPER 24 is the classic standard that most projects start from. Its two-piece articulated-arm mechanism comfortably drives up to 2 m of leaf length at 250 kg maximum door weight. That balance is exactly why it is the most widely chosen swing motor for residential, villa and small-complex garden gates: simple design, battery backup compatibility and IP44 outdoor durability in one package.
COUPER 24 vs JET 24 vs PRINCE 24
| COUPER 24 | JET 24 | PRINCE 24 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arm mechanism | Articulated (classic) | Fast articulated (powerful) | Telescopic |
| Motor power | 85 W | 120 W | 70 W |
| Max. leaf | 2 m | 3 m | 4 m |
| Max. weight | 250 kg | 600 kg | 500 kg |
| Speed | 1.3 / 1.6 cm/s | 1.3 / 2.0 cm/s | 1.6 / 2.0 cm/s |
| Market | Residential standard | Heavy door + frequent use | Wide leaf |
→ For standard use below 2 m leaf + 250 kg, COUPER 24 is the first choice; for heavy doors + frequent use, JET 24; for wide leaves up to 4 m, PRINCE 24.
Site geometry — A-E dimensions
In motor arm installation, the A-E distances between the door hinge axis and the motor shaft axis are determined according to the installation diagram in the PDF. These dimensions directly affect the opening angle (90° / 100° / 110°):
- 90° opening — Standard A dimension (compact installation)
- 100° opening — Increased A dimension (medium strut)
- 110° opening — Maximum A dimension (deep strut for wide manoeuvre)
The correct A value follows from measuring the distance to the door wall and the strut thickness, to select the correct A value.
Battery backup
COUPER 24 provides battery backup with the G24 control board + battery charger board module combination:
- 24 V 7 Ah battery → ~30-50 open-close cycles tolerance during power outage.
- 24 V 12 Ah battery → ~50-80 open-close cycles.
- The charging circuit drives a light charging current with the battery connected continuously; overcharge protection is included.
- Battery life is typically 3-5 years; voltage test is performed during periodic maintenance.
Target projects
- Residential garden gate (single family or small estate)
- Villa main entrance gate (single or double leaf)
- Eco-house + solar-powered systems (24 V naturally)
- Historical residence + aesthetically-prioritised entrance
- Estate internal additional entrance gates
Field discipline
- Hinge quality — Sprung or well-bearing hinges reduce motor load; on doors with old/stiff hinges, the motor thermal protection trips early.
- A dimension precision — Incorrect A dimension disrupts the opening angle; calibration is mandatory according to the PDF table.
- Power trimpot — The T1 motor power trimpot must be adjusted according to the door weight.
- Double-leaf synchronisation — Two COUPER 24 motors are driven in a double-leaf system with the G24-MTS module; sync limit setting is critical.
- Follow the order in the document for synchronisation limit setting on double-arm installation.
Model notes
Follow the order in the document for synchronisation limit setting on double-arm installation. For wide-leaf (2 m+) or heavy-door (250 kg+) applications, PRINCE 24 should be evaluated; borderline use causes early thermal protection trips.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.
-
What leaf is COUPER 24 suited to, and when should you move to JET 24?
COUPER 24 is rated with its 85 W motor for leaves up to 2 m long and 250 kg in weight, the typical range of residential and villa garden gates. When either limit is exceeded, JET 24 takes over: with a 120 W motor it reaches 3 m leaves and 600 kg. Leaf length and weight are assessed together, because a longer leaf applies a greater moment arm to the motor at the same weight. On frequently used entrances, moving up a class is also the safe side for thermal headroom.

The motor body is 780 mm long, so how much space is needed for mounting?
The body measures 100 × 104 × 780 mm and weighs 6 kg. On an articulated-arm motor the space required is not just the body length: the arm traces an arc as it opens, and that swept area must stay clear. The depth of the pillar setback, meaning the distance between the surface the motor fixes to and the leaf hinge axis, must fall within the range the arm geometry can work in. Where the setback is deeper than expected, the telescopic-arm PRINCE range or the piston-type LINEAR suits better; take the measurement before installation.
