Overview
Unlike rail gates, swing garden gates do not slide sideways; the leaf opens by rotating 90°–110° around the hinge axis. r-tec swing gate motors automate these rotating gates in single- or double-leaf form, and the portfolio is offered in 4 models according to arm mechanism and speed class.

Model comparison
| Model | Voltage | Arm mechanism | Motor power | Max. leaf | Max. weight | Typical use |

Arm mechanism differences
Articulated (classic) arm — COUPER, SW2: Two-piece jointed arm. Classic design, tested in wide field application. Typical for ordinary villa and residential gardens.
Fast articulated — JET: Same mechanism + stronger motor + different gear ratio. Leaf opening time is ~30% shorter compared to standard COUPER. For high-use premium villa entrances.
Telescopic — PRINCE: Single-piece extending arm. Operates on gates with wide leaves (up to 4 m) and deep strut distances. Requires liquid grease periodic maintenance.
Single-leaf vs double-leaf installation
- Single leaf — 1 motor + G24 board standard. Typical up to 2 m leaf.
- Double leaf — 2 motors + G24-MTS module (2nd motor driver board add-on module). Sync limit setting is mandatory; the two leaves move at the same time or one closes first when closing (for overlap applications).
Opening angles (90° / 100° / 110°)
The angle the leaf reaches when fully open depends on the arm mechanism geometry:
- 90° — Standard full opening; perpendicular into the garden.
- 100° — Wide manoeuvre area; extra space for long vehicle (minivan, SUV) transit.
- 110° — Maximum opening; applications where the obstacle is temporarily moved to the side.
In site installation, the A-E distances between the door hinge and the motor shaft axis are calculated according to the diagram in the PDF.
G24 universal control board
The 24 V DC swing motors (COUPER, JET, PRINCE) operate on a single board:
- 230 VAC input → 24 VDC output.
- 2 motor terminals (2nd motor with G24-MTS module).
- 2 photocell channels (opening + closing direction).
- 433 MHz rolling-code receiver slot (RF433-S module).
- Battery charger board compatibility (operates during power outages).
- Flasher, traffic light, electric lock terminals.
- Motor type selection with BT2: swing = D4 LED steady on.
Target projects
- Residential garden and villa entrance gates (single or double leaf)
- Premium villa complex vehicle + pedestrian combined entrance
- Eco-house + solar-powered systems (24 V natural compatibility)
- Historical residence + restoration applications (aesthetic priority)
- Facility additional/side gate entrances (artistic design emphasis)
Field discipline
- Power trimpot calibration — Set the motor power adjustment trimpot according to your door’s weight. High power on a light door strains the connection set.
- Hinge quality — Sprung or well-bearing hinges reduce load fatigue on the motor.
- Strut distance — The distance (A dimension) from the motor mounting location to the leaf hinge must be according to the installation table in the PDF.
- Double-leaf synchronisation — The sync limit setting must follow the order in the document; otherwise the leaves may collide.
- Periodic maintenance — Every 12 months 1 hinge lubrication + arm connection tightening + reducer check.
Warning
Caution! Set the motor power adjustment trimpot according to your door’s weight.
Frequently Asked Questions
Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.
Backing off against excessive load is triggered too late on a garden gate
Possible causes: force (force/torque) trimpot setting at a high value, leaf weight has increased (panel or casting-like accessory added later), motor mechanical friction has decreased (adjustment needed after lubrication), momentum effect because the speed setting is high. Initial intervention: apply the force learning procedure in the model guide; if there is a change in leaf weight, motor capacity should be re-evaluated. The EN 12453 standard emphasizes that force adjustment is critical for personal safety; bring it to the minimum required value.
Garden motor leaf is not stopping at the end-stop
Possible causes: mechanical stop position drift, end-stop limit switch trigger arm bent, control board took an incorrect record in learning mode, gear coupling slippage. Initial intervention: visually check that the mechanical stop is in place, check whether the limit switch arm is in the correct position, run the learning mode from the control board again (with the step in the guide). Instead of changing parameters by on-site observation, the first intervention is to repeat the motor learning process in the order in the guide.
