Overview

Once the leaf gets wide, PRINCE 24 is the answer within the range (also listed as PRINCE 400 in the technical PDF). By moving away from COUPER 24’s articulated (jointed) arm to a telescopic (extending) single-piece arm, it gains a decisive edge on leaves up to 3 m wide and 400 kg doors: on wide leaves an articulated arm falls short, the leaf swings and the door does not sit fully on closing. The standard speed profile is 1.6 / 2.0 cm/s; when more speed is needed, the PRINCE 600 variant offers 1.6 / 3.0 cm/s.

Telescopic arm — why?

Problems of the articulated (jointed) arm mechanism on wide-leaf gates:

  1. Elbow movement area — As the leaf widens, the sweep area of the elbow grows, strut distance becomes insufficient.
  2. Leaf swing — Because single-point support is insufficient, the heavy leaf vibrates during movement.
  3. Closing completeness — On wide leaves, the motor cannot reach the final point of movement, and the door does not fully close.

The telescopic arm solves these three problems:

  • The arm extends/retracts, the elbow sweep area remains small.
  • The single-piece structure reduces leaf swing.
  • Full opening + full closing is guaranteed at every leaf length.

Target projects

  • Premium villa main entrance gate (wide garden + deep strut)
  • Estate common main entrance (up to 3 m wide leaf)
  • Farm + agricultural facility garden gate (wide farm vehicle transit)
  • Historical residence + large land restoration
  • Car park / warehouse wide entrance gates (over 200 kg door)

Field discipline

  • Liquid grease maintenance period — The telescope mechanism requires liquid grease maintenance every 6-12 months for long life; follow the recommended intervals in the PDF. If maintenance is skipped, the telescope arm jams and movement is disrupted.
  • A-E dimensions — The distance diagram between the door hinge axis and the motor shaft axis differs from COUPER (telescope length is taken into account); the installation table in the PDF must be used.
  • Power trimpot calibration — The T1 motor power must be adjusted according to the door weight; borderline use causes thermal protection trips.
  • Hinge qualityIndustrial-class hinges are mandatory for heavy leaves (residential hinges are insufficient on 200 kg+ doors).
  • Double-leaf synchronisation — Two PRINCE 24s are driven in a double-leaf system with the G24-MTS module; sync limit + sync speed setting is critical.

Model notes

The telescope mechanism may require periodic liquid grease maintenance; follow the recommended intervals in the PDF. PRINCE 24 is the highest engineering segment of the swing portfolio — installation and service through our dealers is recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.

  • What does a telescopic arm achieve and where is it needed?

A telescopic arm extends as a single piece to push the leaf, rather than tracing the arc an articulated arm makes as it folds in two. The gain is on entrances with a deep setback: where a thick pillar or a recessed garden wall puts the motor's fixing surface far from the leaf hinge, articulated arm geometry cannot reach, and the telescopic arm closes that distance. PRINCE 400 is rated with its 120 W motor for leaves up to 3 m and 400 kg. Because the arm works along a straight line, the area the leaf sweeps is also more predictable.

  • Why is the maintenance interval given as liquid grease every 6 to 12 months?

Inside a telescopic arm there are parts sliding within one another; when those surfaces lose their oil film, friction and motor current rise, and over time the arm wears internally. Liquid grease every 6 to 12 months is therefore specified. The lower end of the interval is for dusty, salt-laden or frequently operated installations, the upper end for sheltered gates in occasional use. While lubricating, check that the arm also moves through its extension without resistance; if it binds, the cause may be something other than a lack of grease.
