Overview
Garage doors are sectional systems with smaller dimensions than industrial doors, used in residences, car park entrances and small commercial businesses. Residential-type sectional doors move sliding on the side rails with the help of hinges and wheels mounted on both edges of the panels and the carrying steel cables wound onto the drums. The power of the torsion springs balances the door movement, easing manual and motorised operation.
In garage applications, the most critical issues are façade harmony + quiet operation + daily use comfort. The same 40 mm sandwich panel + 40 kg/m³ polyurethane insulation technology as the industrial series is offered together with residential look + aesthetic details.

Panel height selection
Site flexibility is provided with 4 panel heights (460 / 500 / 560 / 610 mm):
- 460 mm — Low door height, thin panel desired modern garages.
- 500 mm — Most common choice, medium door height.
- 560 mm — Fewer panels, less joining (for large garage doors).
- 610 mm — Maximum panel height, lowest total number of panels (optimal for high doors).
Surface patterns (residential range)
- Stucco (Orange Peel) — Soft surface, does not show fingerprints. Standard residential choice.
- Cassette (Recessed) — Classic garage door look; traditional architectural harmony.
- Woodgrain — Natural wood texture; premium villa + historic residence.
- Smooth — Modern minimalist; houses with glass + aluminium façades.
- Ribbed — Industrial look, for small commercial businesses.
Quiet operation — critical design
Because garage applications are located in residential neighbourhoods, noise standards are important:
- Polyamide (nylon) wheel — 60-70% less friction noise compared to steel wheels.
- Galvanised rail package — Smooth-surface, non-rust, silent movement.
- EPDM seal + rubber outer sealing — Absorbs air impact noise.
- Torsion spring balance — When the spring is fully balanced, the motor is not strained, vibration is reduced.
- Soft start / soft stop — Standard on the r-tec Pull1000 motor.
Typical use
- Detached residence garages — Single vehicle + two vehicle lane.
- Villa and estate entrance doors — Premium living space.
- Boutique hotel service entrance — Guest + equipment transit.
- Small workshop + car gallery main façade — Commercial + residential mix.
- Apartment basement car park entrance — Low clearance, high-frequency use.
It is delivered with motor selections suitable for 10-30 open-close cycles per day and remote control + safety photocell packages. In high-frequency applications (100+ cycles/day), the 100,000-cycle spring variant is recommended.
Certification and conformity
The garage-series conformity file is verified together with the proposed dimensions, panel, hardware and motor combination. The SP result for an industrial NORMTOR specimen does not automatically apply to the garage series. The 2020 EC copy and the expired Domestic Product and EAC records on this page are historical archive documents, not current conformity evidence.
Field discipline
- Track type — Standard / vertical-lift / high-lift / FHL roof-pitch track is selected according to the site’s beam dimension.
- Dimension verification form — Must be obtained and completed from authorised dealers; panel height + track type + dimension combination is checked.
- Motor selection — The r-tec Pull1000 (1,000 N class) standard is sufficient for residential garage; spring balance must be fully checked.
- Periodic maintenance — Every 12 months 1 hinge lubrication + spring balance check + cable wear check.
- Spring break safety system — Optional for high-traffic garage, recommended for premium residential.
Advantages
- Aesthetic priority — Harmony with façade architecture through 5 surfaces + all RAL colour range.
- Quiet operation — Polyamide wheel + EPDM seal + balanced torsion spring.
- Configuration-specific conformity — The declaration and performance documents for the proposed garage door are matched to its product composition.
- Specific to garage dimensions — The dimension verification form prepared together with the product is used for size comparison.
- 100,000-cycle spring option — Approximately 55-year cycle life with 5 open-close cycles per day.
- –30 °C flexible seal — Durability in all climate zones of Turkey.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.
-
Which panel height options do you offer for the garage door?
NORMTOR garage sectional doors are produced in 4 panel heights — 460 / 500 / 560 / 610 mm — giving flexibility according to the site's beam dimension. The 500 mm medium height is the most common choice, while 610 mm is preferred on high doors for the lowest number of panels. All panels are 40 mm thick with 40 kg/m³ polyurethane core.
-
What are the colour and surface pattern options for the garage door?
The standard colour is RAL 9002 and the most common alternative is RAL 7016; the entire RAL catalogue is available as an option. Five residential surface patterns are offered — stucco, cassette, woodgrain, smooth and ribbed — so you can match the door to your façade architecture.
-
Which motor do you use to automate the garage door?
For a standard residential garage the r-tec Pull1000 (1,000 N class, 220 V) garage motor is sufficient, with soft start / soft stop as standard. The doors are delivered suitable for both manual and motorised use; manual opening is possible during a power outage. The spring balance must be fully checked for correct operation.
-
Which standards and insulation values do the garage doors meet?
The published NORMTOR garage technical specification sets EN 12424 Class 3 wind resistance (700 Pa) and EN 12425 Class 2 water-tightness requirements for the door, and publishes panel values of 0.604 W/m²K thermal transmittance and R'w 26 dB sound insulation. These are not results transferred from the industrial SP report to the garage series; the declaration and evidence scope for the proposed dimensions and configuration are matched separately for each project.
-
Can I add a window or a service door to the garage door?
Yes. A plexiglass window can be added optionally for light transmittance, and an 840 × 1,840 mm service door option is offered for widths up to 5,000 mm. For high-frequency use (100+ cycles/day) the 100,000-cycle torsion spring variant is recommended.
