Overview

NORMPANEL is a family of steel + polyurethane sandwich panels used to close wide openings in industrial facilities, warehouses, garages and sectional door systems. With a double-skinned galvanised steel outer surface, polyurethane insulation core at 40 kg/m³ density and 25 μm polyester inner coating, heat + sound + corrosion resistance is high as standard. It is the fundamental building block of the NORMTOR sectional door family; the same sandwich technology is also offered under the NORMPANEL brand for standalone panel + warehouse façade + garage applications.

NORMPANEL sectional door panels — industrial facility application

Two main panel families

Industrial Panel (3 surface patterns)

For industrial applications such as production facility, warehouse, logistics terminal. Flat, functional edge geometry:

  • Ribbed — Standard industrial look.
  • Stucco — Soft surface pattern, does not show fingerprints.
  • Smooth / Flush — Minimalist industrial.

Finger-Safe Panel (4 surface patterns)

A modern family that includes geometric curvature on the door edges to prevent finger trapping. Mandatory in areas with high pedestrian traffic such as residential, shopping centres and public buildings:

  • Ribbed
  • Microribbed — Fine-lined modern look.
  • Center Groove — Modern minimalist line.
  • Woodgrain — Natural wood-textured, residential look.

Panel code and SKU list

8 panel codes × 2 heights (500 / 610 mm) = 16 SKUs:

Colour range — 7 standard RAL

A catalogue of 7 standard RAL colours is offered for the outer surface. For special project colours, additional selection from the RAL catalogue is possible.

The inner surface is standard as RAL 9002 or RAL 9010 (Pure White) — Stucco or Smooth finish.

Operating principle

Panels form the sectional door surface or façade wall by interlocking horizontally. Thanks to the tongue-and-groove profile, the panels sit tightly together to establish air sealing + thermal continuity. Standard thickness is 40 mm (polyurethane-filled double-skinned); a 60 mm high-insulation version can be ordered for a specific project.

The surface coating is a combination of hot-dip galvanising + polyester paint — with corrosion resistance + UV stability, it provides 10+ years of life in external façade applications. RAL catalogue or custom colour requests are accepted for corporate colour matching.

Safety

Industrial safety standards are mandatory when operating with automatic open-close systems:

  • Finger-safe panel edges (standard in the Fingersafe family) — Geometric design that prevents finger/hand trapping while closing.
  • Safety lock that engages in case of steel cable breakage — Anti-drop device is standard.
  • Double-skinned construction — When one panel is damaged, the other skin preserves integrity.

Target projects

  • NORMTOR industrial sectional door — Primary use (40 mm panel + 7 surface choices).
  • NORMTOR garage sectional door — Woodgrain + Center Groove variants for residential look.
  • Warehouse + production façade — Standalone façade cladding (in non-door applications).
  • Cold storage walls — Sealing with 40 kg/m³ polyurethane insulation + EPDM seal.
  • Public building + shopping centre — High pedestrian traffic areas where finger protection is mandatory.
  • Premium residential + villa complex — Garage façade (premium Cassette Woodgrain look).

Field discipline

  • Accessory compatibility — Panel selection should be evaluated together with mechanical components (hinge, carrier, rail, spring system). See NORMPANEL Accessories.
  • Colour matching — If a custom colour outside the standard RAL range is requested, a minimum production quantity + additional time is required.
  • Height selection — 500 mm panel is more common (medium door height); 610 mm panel reduces the total number of panels (less joining, less installation time).
  • Façade continuity — Panel joints should be kept to a minimum; selection of 500 vs 610 mm should be optimised according to site dimensions.

Advantages

  • Double-skinned 40 mm panel — High heat and sound insulation as standard.
  • Corrosion-resistant — Galvanising + polyester coating provides 10+ years of life in external façade applications.
  • 7 surfaces + 7 colours — Industrial requirements + aesthetic preferences in a single catalogue.
  • Full document set — Panel technical document, comprehensive brochure and panel-end cap drawings downloadable as PDF.
  • NORMTOR compatibility — Fully compatible with NORMTOR sectional door systems — original spare-parts access guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.

  • What is the standard thickness and insulation value of NORMPANEL panels?

The standard panel thickness is 40 mm, with a polyurethane foam core at 40 kg/m³ density between double-skinned galvanised steel. This sandwich construction keeps heat and sound insulation high as standard. A 60 mm version can be ordered for projects requiring higher insulation.

  • Which RAL colours and surface patterns are available?

7 standard RAL colours are offered for the outer surface — RAL 9001, 9002, 9006, 7016, 5010, 2004 and 3000. As surface patterns, the Industrial family offers Ribbed, Stucco and Smooth, while the Finger-Safe family offers Ribbed, Microribbed, Center Groove and Woodgrain. Custom colours outside the standard range require a minimum production quantity and additional lead time.

  • Which panel heights are offered and how should we choose for a project?

Panels are produced in two standard heights, 500 mm and 610 mm; each of the 8 panel codes comes in two versions, making 16 SKUs in total. The 500 mm panel is more common at medium door heights, while the 610 mm panel reduces the total panel count for fewer joints and shorter installation time. The choice should be optimised according to the site dimensions.

  • In which applications are Finger-Safe panels required?

The Finger-Safe (Fingersafe) family has a geometric edge design that prevents finger and hand trapping while closing. This safe edge geometry is preferred in high pedestrian-traffic areas such as residential buildings, shopping centres and public buildings. The Industrial family instead offers flat, functional geometry suited to production facilities, warehouses and logistics terminals.

  • Are NORMPANEL panels compatible with NORMTOR sectional door systems?

Yes, NORMPANEL panels are the fundamental building block of the NORMTOR sectional door family and are fully compatible with the system, with original spare-parts access guaranteed. Panel selection should be evaluated together with mechanical components such as hinges, carriers, rails and springs. When operated with automatic open-close systems, safety devices such as finger protection and the steel-cable-breakage lock come into play.
