Overview
Rapid PVC doors (HPVC) enable uninterrupted entry-exit of forklifts, pallet jacks and other service vehicles with high opening-closing speed; at the same time they establish insulation against odour, heat, dust and wind factors between spaces. The high-speed roll type HPVC is a compact system in which the door fabric is wound up onto a drum in the upper chassis and gathered upward. It saves space on internal lines with low ceiling height while withstanding hundreds of open-close cycles per day.
The archived TÜV NORD technical-report cover dated 14 May 2010 identifies a Type ECO high-speed foil door with an Mtec drive. Because only the first page of the report is available, this record is not used as a current series certificate or as performance evidence for other HPVC configurations.
Structural features
- Fabric — 900 g/m² panama-weave imported PVC; long-lasting, flexible, chemical resistant. A transparent window section can be added at the desired place/size.
- Side post — 80 × 80 mm extruded aluminium profile, RAL 9006 (grey). Aesthetics + ease of maintenance.
- Drum — Ø125 mm special-section aluminium tube. The fabric is wound as a single layer, gathered in the upper chassis when the door is open.
- Bottom skirt — Aluminium profile RAL 9006 + EPDM seal underneath or RAL 3002 red fabric alternative. Sealing + safety detection integrated.
Motor + control selection
According to door size, 5 RAPID motor models are selected; each motor can be used with a control unit either with or without inverter.
| Motor | Voltage | Shaft Dia | Speed | Capacity | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RAPID 35 | 380 V | 25.4 cm | 130 rpm | 35 Nm | 0.55 kW |
| RAPID 45 | 380 V | 30 cm | 90 rpm | 45 Nm | 0.55 kW |
| RAPID 75 | 380 V | 25.4 cm | 130 rpm | 75 Nm | 0.55 kW |
| RAPID 85 | 380 V | 30 cm | 90 rpm | 85 Nm | 1.00 kW |
| RAPID 180 | 380 V | 40 cm | 90 rpm | 180 Nm | 2.20 kW |
Without inverter (I-380 control)
3-phase mechanical control — simple + robust. 0.65-0.70 m/s opening speed. For budget-priority or medium-speed typical HPVC applications.
With inverter (FU control)
Frequency inverter — soft acceleration + speed + torque control. 1.5 m/s opening speed (RAPID 45/1 + FU) — for modern forklift traffic. Thanks to soft start/stop, fabric wear is significantly reduced; integrated encoder position control.
→ For details see r-tec FU Control Unit and r-tec I-380.
Safety layers
- MF/A safety photocell — Standard, prevents the risk of trapping at the door threshold.
- BREAK OUT bottom impact safety — Optional; in case of accidental impact by a forklift or vehicle, the bottom skirt profile accidentally comes out and returns to place when fully opened. Critical for product+door protection in heavy forklift traffic.
- Anticrash system — Optional; automatic reopening + calibration after impact.
- Full-height photocell — Full-height light curtain (premium safety).
- Optical IR eye — High-sensitivity proximity detection.
Target projects
- Food and pharmaceutical production lines — Hygiene + temperature separation + heavy forklift.
- Cold storage — Keeps HVAC loss to a minimum, sealing brushes + EPDM seal mandatory.
- Logistics warehouse zones — Transits with heavy forklift traffic; flow accelerates noticeably with the 1.5 m/s inverter model.
- Car park entry control points — Pedestrian + vehicle safe transit (transparent window critical).
- Store back-office to sales area separation — Customer-invisible section transit.
- Automotive production facilities — Line separation + paint booth insulation.
Evidence scope
- Historical source: TÜV NORD technical-report cover, DIN EN 13241-1:2004, Report No
10 325 380263-001, 14 May 2010. - Identified test object: Type ECO high-speed foil door and Mtec drive; test date 19 March 2010.
- Use boundary: the published copy is only page 1 of a 13-page report. Without the result pages, no conclusion is drawn about mechanical resistance, speed, insulation or safety performance. See the historical document archive.
Field discipline
- Opening size — For the correct RAPID motor + control combination, the dimension verification form must be obtained from and completed by authorised dealers.
- Mains voltage — 380 V three-phase (with I-380 or FU) or 230 V single-phase (only with FU) option. The facility’s existing installation capacity must be checked before installation.
- Ceiling height — Roll-up drum Ø125 mm + steel construction = approximately 40-50 cm needed for the upper chassis.
- Fabric wear — Hard starting (without inverter) fatigues the fabric more quickly than with inverter; in heavy use the inverter model is straightforward in the long term.
- Periodic maintenance — Every 6 months 1 EPDM seal + drum axis + motor thermal check. Every 3 months in heavy forklift traffic.
Model notes
The high-speed roll type is typically preferred for medium-small openings with forklift traffic + indoor applications. For openings wider than 5 m or windy outdoor environments, ALKUR Folding Type HPVC is recommended — it offers high wind resistance with galvanised steel 200×200 mm side posts + Ø25 mm galvanised tube fabric reinforcement.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below we've compiled the most common questions and answers regarding this product.
-
What is the average opening speed of the HPVC door?
The ALKUR HPVC family offers an opening speed between 1.5 – 2.0 m/s depending on configuration. In high-frequency transits (forklift / pallet jack), this speed range minimises cold chain losses and HVAC load. The RAPID 35-180 motor selection and the I-380 / FU-Control board combination calibrates the speed according to the scenario.
-
What is the fabric life in high-frequency transits?
Standard 900 g/m² PVC fabric provides a service life exceeding 5 years at an average of 300-500 open-close cycles per day. Wear strips, the bottom bar profile and the complete fabric are offered as spare parts; fabric replacement can be carried out quickly by your authorized technician.
-
Is there an impact-protected system?
Yes. The standard configuration includes an impact-protected safety system; the door stops or reopens on contact with the photocell + bottom bar sensor. In case of a forklift driver error, even if the fabric comes out of the chassis, with the self-resetting feature the motor settles back into the drum without forcing.
-
Is there a special configuration for cold storage?
Yes. In cold chain applications, a double-skin fabric and thermal insulation profiles are offered as options. For dew point control, integrated heating strip and condensate drainage are added with project-specific engineering approval.

What does the archived TÜV NORD report cover show?
The published copy is only the first page of a 13-page technical report for a Type ECO high-speed foil door with an Mtec drive tested on 19 March 2010. It is not a current series certificate, and no test result or scope is automatically transferable to other HPVC variants.
