ALKUR Folding HPVC: The High-Speed Door That Faces the Wind

Say “high-speed PVC door” and the roll-up type often comes to mind: the curtain wraps onto a drum above. The ALKUR folding-type HPVC uses a different curtain arrangement and is considered for wide openings and wind-exposed sites. Choosing between them requires the opening dimensions, installation clearances and wind conditions; the specification defines no fixed five-metre changeover point.
Folding instead of wrapping
In the folding type, the curtain gathers above the opening, folding along horizontal lines. The specification describes Ø25 mm galvanised tube reinforcements joining the PVC fabric sections. Their layout and the supporting structure are assessed with the door dimensions and site wind load; they are not a general guarantee that a curtain cannot deflect.
The specification lists 200 × 200 mm galvanised steel side posts, 3 mm laser-cut galvanised side plates and a Ø114 mm tube. The dimension form shows the gathering space above the opening. These details describe the construction; the approved drawing determines the arrangement for the project.
No compromise on speed
The specification gives an opening speed of up to 1.5 m/s with an inverter. The curtain is 900 g/m² imported PVC with a panama weave. Motor power is selected for the door dimensions, and the motor-controller configuration must be checked against the requested speed; a maximum value does not guarantee the same speed for every installed door.
The limit of the published TÜV record
The TÜV NORD file available on this site is only the first page of a 13-page technical report dated 14 May 2010. That page identifies the product examined on 19 March 2010 as a Type ECO high-speed roll-up foil door with an Mtec drive. The file is not a current series certificate, contains no mechanical, speed, insulation or safety result, and cannot be extended to the folding variant.
Where folding, where spiral?
The selection criteria are the opening, installation clearances, use and wind load. Roll-up and folding arrangements are compared for the actual project; there is no automatic switch above 5 m. The published folding-door specification does not provide a RAPID motor-controller pairing table. Confirm the selected package in the current project documents.
For a wide or wind-exposed opening, the folding type may belong on your list. Its specification is on the product page; to confirm the technical and conformity file for the proposed configuration, contact us.
