According to our company chronology, in the final months of 2008 we decided at our 1,500 m² Tuzla factory to move into high-speed PVC (HPVC) door production. One year later, on 29 October 2009, our new 5,000 m² factory opened in Hendek/Sakarya Organised Industrial Zone and HPVC production expanded at that facility. This historical company account is not, by itself, a claim of being “Turkey’s first” or evidence of a certificate issued in 2009.
This piece focuses on the technical foundations of the ALKUR HPVC product family, the sectors in which it is used, how it integrates with our current motor portfolio, and what the published archive record actually establishes.
Why is HPVC necessary?
At a busy opening, the time a door stays open affects air exchange between the spaces. Cold stores, clean rooms and production lines have different separation needs; door selection considers temperature, pressure, hygiene and traffic requirements together.
Three matters need separate consideration when choosing HPVC:
- Opening speed: The roll-up and folding specifications state up to 1.5 m/s for the inverter option. Full opening time is verified for the selected door’s dimensions and control settings.
- Closing sequence: Automatic closing, passage detection and safety behaviour depend on the selected control system. Immediate closing after every passage or minimum air exchange is not assumed.
- Behaviour after impact: The roll-up specification describes BREAK OUT as optional equipment. It is not a feature of every folding or HPVC door. After an impact, a qualified team assesses the door according to its model instructions; no guarantee of an undamaged curtain is implied.
The aim is to assess energy use, traffic flow and safety together against the required open time. In the company chronology, 2008–2009 marks the HPVC transition from imported products to in-house production.
ALKUR HPVC — two main types — high-speed roll and folding
There are two basic constructions in our product family:
High-speed roll (rolling)
Spiral specification §2-2 states that the fabric wraps around a 125 mm diameter specially profiled aluminium tube at the top. Takes up little space, low conflict with overhead installations. Typical use:
- Cold storage entrance — tight corridor, side equipment
- Pharmaceutical clean room — hygiene + controlled air flow
- Automotive assembly line — high-frequency transit
Folding
While opening, the fabric folds and settles into the upper housing. It can be assessed for wide openings; the frame, collection area and installation clearances are checked for the project. Application examples:
- Logistics warehouse internal corridor
- Food distribution centre
- Wide production area sections
Both technical specifications describe 900 g/m² imported panama-weave PVC fabric and an optional transparent window. They do not establish anti-static performance, stain resistance or a fixed number of colours; verify any such feature for the quoted curtain.
Motor and controller selection
The ALKUR roll-up and folding HPVC specifications say motor power is selected for door size and describe inverter and non-inverter configurations. Non-inverter speed is 0.65–0.70 m/s for the roll-up type and 0.60–0.70 m/s for the folding type; both inverter options reach up to 1.5 m/s. Those specifications do not provide opening-width or daily-cycle limits for individual RAPID motors.
The separate RAPID 85 technical sheet documents 380 V, 85 Nm and 90 rpm. Those motor values alone do not establish a particular HPVC door size, linear opening speed or a ready pairing with FU or I-380 control.
The FU manual describes a 220 V single-phase-input frequency controller with soft start/stop. Its output voltage is stated two different ways on the same page, so the exact value and motor pairing need an approved revision. The I-380 manual describes three-phase direct control; FU’s soft-start function cannot be transferred to it. Select the door size, exact motor, controller, mains and safety equipment together.
What do the archive documents establish?
The TÜV NORD copy published on this site is not a series quality certificate; it is only the first page of a 13-page technical report dated 14 May 2010. That page identifies the product examined on 19 March 2010 as a Type ECO high-speed roll-up foil door with an Mtec drive. Mechanical resistance, transit speed, insulation and safety results cannot be read from that page alone; the record cannot be used as a current series certificate or as evidence for the folding variant.
The content of the EAC PDF archived under an HPVC filename concerns NORMTOR powered doors, and the declaration expired on 12 April 2020. It therefore does not establish current conformity for the ALKUR HPVC family or direct export eligibility for Eurasian markets. The current conformity file required for a project should be confirmed separately at the quotation stage.
Project selection and documents
For a roll-up or folding HPVC door, record the clear opening, installation space, site wind load, usage intensity and mains supply together. The PDFs on the product pages show the published door specifications; confirm the exact motor-controller pairing and current conformity file separately for the quoted configuration. You can share your project dimensions through our contact form for technical review and a quotation.
