r-tec EV Charging Units

Overview

The r-tec AC charging range comprises the fixed WCU-22 Wallbox and portable WCU-11 Portable. The WCU-22 manual lists 400 V three-phase, 32 A and up to 22 kW; the WCU-11 manual lists 400 V three-phase, 16 A and up to 11 kW. Both have a Type 2 vehicle connection and IP54 rating. Neither contains an internal residual-current device; an external 30 mA RCD is required in the supply panel.

Vehicle, supply circuit and connector compatibility are checked for the project.

Product scope

These two models are AC chargers. A manual’s maximum output does not mean a vehicle will always charge at that power or reach full charge in a fixed time. The vehicle and site supply determine the actual installation.

Applications

WCU-22 can be considered for car parks, workplaces and residential projects with a suitable charging supply. Portable WCU-11 provides flexibility where the supply and protection have been checked. For multiple units, shared access or a commercial charging service, capacity and operating requirements are assessed for the project.

Connection and protection

• Vehicle connection: Both manuals specify Type 2.
• Protection class: Both manuals specify IP54.
• Residual-current protection: Both manuals say that protection is not inside the device and require an external 30 mA RCD in the supply panel. No internal DC leakage detection is claimed.

Pre-project checks

Cable size, circuit breaker, residual-current protection and earthing are selected from the model manual and the site’s electrical design. For 22 kW at 400 V three-phase/32 A, the WCU-22 manual gives a table for runs under 50 m: 5 × 6 mm² cable, 40 A Type C breaker and 30 mA Type A RCCB. The WCU-11 manual conflicts with itself: its 11 kW specification table is followed by a 22 kW installation-table heading. Circuit sizing for that model therefore needs current manufacturer confirmation. No fixed earthing resistance or one-size-fits-all cable size is asserted.

Installation responsibility

The manuals describe installation as work for a competent electrician under the applicable electrical rules.
