Overview
r-tec EV Charging Units offer Type 2 connector AC charging infrastructure in commercial car park, office, estate, shopping centre and plaza projects during this period of rapid growth in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Two complementary models are included in the portfolio:
- WCU-22 Wallbox — Fixed wall-mounted, 3-phase 22 kW capacity main product. For car park column, estate entrance area, office garage applications.
- WCU-11 Portable — Single-phase 11 kW portable, the version the user can carry with them. Guest/backup charging scenarios + service vehicles + individual use.
Both models comply with the Type 2 (IEC 62196-2) standard; all electric vehicles sold in Europe support this connector.

AC vs DC charging — r-tec positioning
There are two main approaches in electric vehicle charging:
| AC (Mode 3) | DC (fast) | |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | 11 – 22 kW | 50 – 350 kW |
| Use time | 4 – 8 hours | 20 – 45 min |
| Profile | Low | High (200K+ TL per board) |
| Typical location | Home / workplace / hotel / shopping centre car park | Roadside / petrol station |
| Mains investment | Standard | High (special transformer) |
The r-tec portfolio is focused on the AC side — provides a sustainable solution at locations parked for 4-8 hours daily (workplace, shopping centre, hotel, estate car park). Roadside fast DC charging is another product category (not in the r-tec portfolio).
Target projects
- Commercial car parks — Shopping centre, plaza, hospital, university (usually 8+ wallboxes per facility).
- Office garages — Employee + visitor charging infrastructure (bonus offered to HR).
- Residential estates — Apartment/villa car parks, common use or individual.
- Hotel + restaurant car parks — Green certification and EV-awarded guest service.
- Factory + service facilities — Company vehicle fleet + visitors.
- Estate entrance control combination — Barrier + card reader + wallbox at a single point (closed estate entrance).
Standards and protection
- IEC 62196-2 — Type 2 connector physical standard.
- IEC 61851-1 — AC charging Mode 3 communication protocol.
- EN 60364-7-722 — EV charging point electrical installation.
- RCCB / RCD — Earth fault current protection device (DC fault detection may be included).
- IP54 protection — Resistance to dust and water splash (sufficient for car park + balcony installation).
Field discipline (pre-project check)
In AC charging units, cable cross-section, RCCB / RCD selection and earthing ring must be calculated separately in the project:
- Cable cross-section — 5 × 6 mm² Cu for 22 kW (3-phase + neutral + earth); 3 × 4 mm² Cu for 11 kW. If the cable length exceeds 30 m, the cross-section is moved up one notch (voltage drop).
- RCCB / RCD — Type B is preferred (DC fault detection included). Type A models carry risk because they cannot detect DC leakage on some EVs.
- Earthing — Facility main earthing + wallbox local earthing. Resistance < 4 Ω is targeted.
- Fuse panel capacity — 22 kW = 32 A; separate 32 A C-type breaker for a single wallbox. In multi-wallbox installations, smart load distribution with load management module is recommended.
- Mains transformer capacity — In a new facility, if the existing transformer capacity is insufficient for 4-5 wallboxes, transformer upgrade + distribution panel renewal is required.
Authorisation and ownership
EV charging infrastructure installation is performed by an EPDK-licensed company. Alkur offers AC charging units as products; on-site installation + EPDK permits are carried out by the authorised dealer/integrator side. With the r-tec product portfolio, automatic door + barrier + wallbox can be delivered from a single source — especially in closed estate and premium car park projects, single-supplier advantage.
