A common dilemma when choosing an industrial door is: sectional door or high-speed PVC door? Although both systems are manufactured by Alkur, they are designed for different jobs. The right choice depends on where and how the door will be used.
When is a high-speed PVC door the right choice?
A high-speed PVC door opens and closes within seconds thanks to its flexible curtain. It stands out in these situations:
- Internal passages with heavy forklift traffic
- Hygiene and climate separation in food, cold-storage and pharmaceutical environments
- High-frequency passages where opening speed directly affects efficiency
When is a sectional door the right choice?
A sectional door provides insulation and security with its 40 mm polyurethane-filled panel. It is preferred in these situations:
- External facade openings of factories and warehouses
- Points where thermal insulation and security matter most
- Larger openings with low to medium frequency
Quick comparison
| Criterion | High-speed PVC door | Sectional door |
|---|---|---|
| Opening speed | Very high | Standard |
| Insulation | Medium | High (40 mm panel) |
| Typical location | Internal passage | External facade |
| Usage frequency | High frequency | Low–medium frequency |
Using both together
In many facilities the most efficient solution is to use both: a sectional door on the external facade for insulation and security, and a high-speed PVC door on the internal passage for speed and hygiene. Both doors come ready for automation with r-tec motors.
