Environmental Management Starts on the Shop Floor

Say “environmental management” and reports come to mind first; for us the story starts at the cutting table. The offcut left over when a sectional door panel’s sheet is cut either goes into mixed scrap or is separated by type and recovered. The difference between the two paths is measured in tonnes by the end of the year.
Habit before certificate
Offcut separation, hazardous waste disposal through a licensed company and recyclable packaging preference had been practised at the Hendek plant for years. In the June audit round these practices were connected to the ISO 14001 environmental management system; energy and water consumption are now tracked against targets. The Respect for Nature Certificate added alongside verifies, through a separate audit, that the same commitments reach daily operations.
Two certificates, one aim
ISO 14001 builds the system: aspects are identified, targets are set, deviations are tracked. Respect for Nature certifies the habit: efficient equipment preference, water consumption monitoring, recovery rates. Without the first, the second lacks a foundation; without the second, the first stays on paper.
What it means for you
Customers who publish sustainability reports can now ground their supply chain declarations in two independent documents. The current PDFs of both certificates are available on our certificates page.
