Speaking to Win&ART Proje Magazine following the Eurasia Door Fair, Alkur Kapı Sistemleri General Manager Reha Kurtuluş devoted his agenda largely to the automation brand r-tec. Kurtuluş begins: “We started this year by carrying out PR activities for our r-tec Motor and Control Systems product group. At the fairs we have attended in 2017, and those we will attend, we will focus entirely on promoting our r-tec brand.”

Reha Kurtuluş interviewed by the Win&ART team at the r-tec stand.

When reminded of domestic and international activities, he says that Alkur, by analysing the needs of the automatic door sector, has moved into the production of control boards, electronic components and accessories under the r-tec brand. Saying “We produce all of these with 100% Turkish software”, Kurtuluş notes that the output of the R&D and product-development departments is today used at many points in Turkey as well as Asia and Europe. He adds that the feedback from the field continues to expand the product range: “At the point we have reached in the second quarter of the year, r-tec brand recognition has grown and is being mentioned together with Alkur Kapı Sistemleri.”

When the conversation turns to competition and localisation, Kurtuluş underlines that they are a firm that, as a matter of principle, attaches importance to domestic production. “We have localised many products that we previously imported by developing them. Today, within the scope of our r-tec project, including the electronic board and accessory group, we have a 100% Turkish-origin product family without compromising on quality.” He says that gate automation, photocell doors, industrial door control units, and safety, warning, control and accessory groups are developed under this umbrella.

At this point, the product Kurtuluş emphasises most is the G24 control board, marketed with the slogan “World’s First & Only Single Board, Single Control for All Garden Automation”. He explains that the same control board is used in all motors running on 24 V: “While even the world’s best-known firms are saying they will introduce this board to the sector next year or the year after, we produced this board long ago; it has been operating in the field for three years.” He adds that after-sales service is also among the brand’s priorities, and that updated and renewed products are regularly shared with colleagues.

In his assessment of fairs, Kurtuluş describes the Tüyap KPC organisation as the largest gathering of the sector: “There were domestic and foreign visitors who came specifically knowing r-tec. It was a good opportunity to introduce the products to colleagues who had heard of it before but had not had the chance to use it; brand recognition multiplied,” he says. He says his only expectation is that promotion to international participants be strengthened.

When the year’s product launches come up, the agenda is once again determined by r-tec. He reports that the introduction of the r-tec Dynamic Series barriers, which entered stocks in the second half of May, was made, and that the garden automation range has also seen intense interest. “The photocell door mechanism kits we launched in 2017 received considerable interest; the most important is the G24 single-board control board we produced for 24 V products — it will be the favourite of this year,” he says.

When we asked about future strategy, Kurtuluş’s answer is clear: “r-tec is our motor and control systems brand setting out with a global name and logo. On the automation side of the automatic door sector, it will continue on its way with a 100% domestic and 100% innovative understanding, without compromising on quality. We will continue to lead the sector with a strategy we will follow not just for 2017–2018, but always.”
